Laois youth dance ensemble | LOSING FEATHERS

Freedom is an opened window’ A dance film by Laois Youth Dance Ensemble. Directed and choreographed by Erica Pessanha Borges in collaboration with John Scott (Irish Modern Dance Theatre) Filmed and edited by Kristian Mantalvanos Visual Arts: Caroline Conway

James Airey (Slayer) | KILLING TIME

Killing Time is a short film depicting a teenager waiting for his train to arrive to take him to school. As a dancer he passes the time by moving and interacting with the environment, using the shelter and his backpack as dance props. He becomes so absorbed by his dance that he almost misses the train. This 14 year old dancer uses a fusion of popping and contemporary dance to give insight into his life as a young dancer faced with the boredom and isolation of a life in lockdown where his only stage is the local train station.

Limerick youth dance | THE MAGIC SHOP

This dance film was funded by the Young Ensemble Scheme, Arts Council Ireland and is an age-inclusive dance film incorporating Contemporary Dance and Hip-Hop elements exploring the message of being one’s own hero. LYDC was inspired by the message in the music; that when times are hard, there is a space within where you can cultivate strength, foster connection and share that with others. (LYDC, alongside our child protection policy, has signed permission from the guardians of every young person in this film that their image may be used and distributed.)
